Summary
A community fine-tune of MiniMax H3 is trending hard. Minimax-h3_Singularity — released on Hugging Face by the AIGC-Singularity team — hit 58,000+ downloads and 230+ likes in under five days. It is a fused fine-tune of MiniMax H3 specialized in fixing what stock H3 struggles with: motion blur in fast action, collapsing faces in long shots, and over-glossy skin.
Minimax-h3_Singularity: The HDR Fine-Tune Making Open-Source Video AI Better (2026)
What changed vs stock H3
The team fused several H3 checkpoints (ref, fl, b25-49) and spent three days on pruning and weight optimization to remove high-step-training artifacts.
| Area | Improvement |
|---|---|
| Image quality | HDR-trained; cuts motion blur in high-speed action |
| Faces | Restores distant faces that blur or collapse |
| Skin | Removes the over-oiled glossy look |
| Motion | Stronger dynamics for sword fights and martial arts |
| VFX | Tuned for spellcasting, particle auras, magical combat |
| Camera | Better response to pan, tilt, zoom, tracking |
| Compatibility | Keeps H3 prompt adherence and style range 100% |
How to run it
Download the safetensors from WarmBloodAban/Minimax-h3_Singularity, drop it in ComfyUI's models/diffusion_models/, and swap the checkpoint in any MiniMax H3 workflow. The pruned INT8 file is about 21GB; pair it with the turbo 4-step LoRA for fast inference.
Known weaknesses
Ref2V users report the reference image drifting before animation starts — the author attributes this to aggressive early-stage noise and suggests the 4-step turbo LoRA at strength 0.75-1.0 as mitigation. Audio reference handling is also weaker than stock Ref2VA.
Hardware reality
| VRAM | Experience |
|---|---|
| 32GB (RTX 5090) | Comfortable for 768p-class local runs |
| 24GB (RTX 4090) | INT8 works well; 2K not recommended locally |
| 16GB (RTX 4060 Ti) | Works with heavy RAM use (~44GB); 480p in ~1 min |
| 12GB (RTX 3060) | GGUF builds only; ~25 min per 5s clip |
Note: system RAM matters more than VRAM here. A 128GB unified-memory mini PC (like the GMKtec EVO-X2 128GB) is a realistic local platform.
License notes
The fine-tune is published under Apache 2.0, but the base MiniMax H3 uses the MiniMax H3 Community License: revenue above US$20M/year requires written authorization, commercial UIs must display "MiniMax H3", and distillation into other models is banned. The US, EU, UK, and South Korea are excluded territories for local deployment (the API remains available globally).
Verdict
For action scenes, VFX, and photoreal quality, Singularity is a clear upgrade over stock H3. For character identity via reference images, stay on stock Ref2VA. Best of all, it is free.
